Support your Immune System with Nature

You didn’t get enough sleep, you had a few too many drinks, the season is changing . . . whatever it is that has got the best of your immune system you feel like s@%&.

Fortunately there are things you can do right now to support your immune system. The following ideas can strengthen your immunity. Read on for evidence based methods to protect your health.

  1. Drinking Herbal Teas: Ginger tea is soothing and warming—great for when you’re feeling a bit run down. Or combine lemon, lavender and raw honey for a calming tea with detox benefits.

  2. Supplement with good-ol vitamin C - There’s evidence that this old standby is important for the optimal functioning of your white blood cells.

  3. Garlic: Antibacterial, antimicrobial, all the anti’s - garlic is a great ally for immunity. For a therapeutic dose of garlic mince two cloves and let them sit for 15 minutes for the active compounds to develop. Combine with olive oil and salt, then spread on your tasty snack of choice.

  4. Use a nasal rinse or a neti pot. This may seem strange however cleaning the mucus membranes in the nose can clear away nasty bacteria and leave you breathing easy. Trust me once you get into this ritual you will become hooked! Like a shower for your sinuses!!

  5. Zinc. Evidence has shown that zinc is brilliant at supporting the immune cells. Be sure to take it with copper so that you do not deplete your stores.

  6. Vitamin D. I can not stress enough the importance of vitamin D supplementation especially in the winter. Be sure to take it with vitamin K for best results.

  7. Take a bath. Combine with epsom salts and bentonite clay. Your body will thank you.
